At Costarider Campervan we are always looking for new places to camp safely and comfortably. This time we went to Finca Koki, located in the community of San Pedro de Poas.
It is a strategic place if you plan to visit the Poas Volcano and coffee tours like Finca Alsacia and Finca Doka. Nearby are the communities of Fraijanes and Poasito with its attractions such as the Fraijanes Park or the strawberry restaurants. El Paraíso waterfall and the Bosque del Niño forest reserve are a few kilometers from the town of San Pedro.
But Finca Koki has its own attractions that make this place more than just a camping site.
Finca Koki
What started as a “sugar mill” has gone through several stages, from hydroelectric to cryptocurrency mining.
A few years ago they made a turnaround and turned their farm into a recreational park. Taking advantage of the lagoon, the canal and the river, they offer everything from water activities to horseback riding tours around the property.
These are some of the services offered by the farm.
Kayaking and boating: Near the lagoon there are boats and kayaks.
Tubing: There is a water channel used to carry water through the property. The park offers inflated tires so you can navigate this channel.
Fishing: There is a platform at the side of the lagoon from which you can fish.
Horseback and tractor tours: There are horseback and tractor tours throughout the property. The tractor tour is like a kind of train, where visitors are taken in wagons with seats. There is another tour where you can visit the hydroelectric plant.
Trails: The park has at least 4 trails. One of them leads to the waterfall over the Poas River.
Viewpoints: There are benches distributed throughout the property that serve to observe the depression of the Poas River and the surrounding mountains.
Ranchos with BBQ. There are ranchos that surround the lagoon with chairs and tables. Some of these ranchos have a charcoal grill for meat.

Camping at Finca Koki
There are two camping areas at Finca Koki. One is on the top of a mountain next to the Poas River while the other is on the river bank and has a “little beach”. Both have different prices.
These areas have bathrooms and showers, as well as a rancho where there are outlets with electricity and Wifi Internet.
Campfires are allowed in the designated areas. There is private security, although it is always recommended to leave anything of value inside the vehicle.
There is a restaurant open from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. in case you want to have lunch or a snack.
